EASTER FLOWERS: Flowers, in memory of loved ones or for a special intention, are being sold by members of the Altar & Rosary Society this weekend. These flowers will beautify the altars during the Easter holiday. The cost of an Easter lily is $6.00.
PASTOR’S ADVISORY BOARD MEETING: The Pastor’s Advisory Board Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 12th at 6:30 PM in the Hardini Hall.
CENTENNIAL MEETING: The Centennial Committee will meet on Monday, April 11th, at 7:00 PM in St. Sharbel Hall. All are invited.
CIRCUS TICKETS: The Knights of Lebanon have secured free tickets to the Irem Temple Shrine Circus for the 1:30 show on April 30th. Those interested in attending are asked to please contact Francis Michael at (570) 947-4639. Tickets and transportation will be provided by the Knights.
FRIDAY DEVOTIONS DURING LENT: Devotions will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include Stations of the Cross, Benediction with the Holy Cross and Veneration of the Holy Cross. A reminder about fasting: we are obliged to have only meatless meals on Fridays during Lent.
MRE BAKE SALE NEWS
The MRE children would like to thank everyone for their generous support of the Bake Sale. It has been a huge success!!! A special thanks to Mrs. Chrissy Nordmark for spearheading the Bake Sale Fundraising Program and all the parents who helped the children and cleaned up. The next Bake Sale will be on March 27th following the 10:00 AM Liturgy. Anyone wishing to donate or bake is asked to contact Mrs. Nordmark at 472-9485. Baked goods need to be dropped off prior to the 10 AM Liturgy! The children sincerely thank you for all your support.

The Easter Party hosted by K of L and MRE teachers for all children of the Parish and Knights of Lebanon will be on April 2nd at St. Anthony’s Church hall from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Prior to the party, the MRE Classes will meet at 9:30 AM to decorate candles for the Palm Sunday procession. All the children of the parish are welcome to come at 9:30 to decorate a candle for the Palm Sunday procession.

THANK YOU: Recently we received a check in the amount of $3,682.33 from the Northeastern Pennsylvania Association of Arab-Americans of Wilkes-Barre. The check was a share of distribution of all the assets of this association. We are grateful to John Neddoff, Treasurer, for issuing this check to St. Anthony+St. George Maronite Church. PASTA DINNER: A pasta dinner to benefit the Wyoming Valley Alcohol and Drug Services, Inc. for prevention/education efforts in area school districts will be held on Sunday April 10th from 11:00 to 5:00 PM at St. Anthony+St. George church hall. Cost is $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 6-12 years of age and is free to children age 5 and under. A theme basket and Chinese auction will also be featured. Take-outs are available. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
A NEW PATRIARCH: We are proud to announce that Bechara El-Raai has been appointed as a new Patriarch of the Maronite Church.
FISH DINNER-MACARONI DINNER: Terry Thomas and her family will sponsor a Fish or Macaroni and Cheese (homemade) dinner on Friday, April 15th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in St. Sharbel Hall. Cost is $9.00 per fish dinner/$6.00 per child 12 and under; macaroni and cheese $6.00 per adult/$4.00 per child 12 and under. Tickets will be sold at the door.
FAMILY BREAKFAST: The committee to elect Jeff Thomas will hold a family breakfast on Saturday, April 9th from 10:00 AM to Noon at St. Sharbel Hall. Cost is $10 per adult-children 12 and under no cost.
ELECTION DAY BAKE SALE AND REFRESHMENT STAND: On Tuesday, May 17th, our church will sponsor a joint bake sale/refreshment stand in the St. Sharbel Hall kitchen from 7 AM to 7 PM. This is a joint effort between the Pastor’s Advisory Board, Altar & Rosary Society and MRE. We are asking ALL of you to contribute your time and talent for this very important fundraiser. Preliminary menu: Middle Eastern pastry, baked goods, baked kibbee sandwiches, hot dogs and beverages. Please see any Advisory Board member with your donation of time or baking/cooking. Proceeds will fund the new rest rooms in St. Sharbel Hall. NOTE: Other churches sponsor these sales and are very successful.
